JJ Rorie's Immutable is Required Reading for Every Product Manager

We had the pleasure of read and review Immutable: 5 Truths of Great Product Managers by JJ Rorie and we think it's required reading for every product manager. Emily Yang, product analyst at Bain Public completed a review:

"Immutable is the first product management book I’ve ever read and I think it successfully outlines the main roles of a product manager. JJ Rorie writes about five characteristics that define great product managers. According to her, great product managers should have high customer intelligence, expertise at building relationships, mastery in communication, good judgement and should know how to prioritize their time. In each chapter, the author expands on what those characteristics translate to in the day-to-day of a product manager by giving many examples and even accounts anecdotal stories of her own time in the role. As I have recently started myself as a product analyst, I was able to quickly associate the concepts that JJ Rorie presented to some of the exercises that I do daily with clients. Exercises such as writing personas and doing research to gain industry-specific knowledge in order to better understand the clients’ product and the audience they are catering to. Overall, the book is packed with templates and exercises that would be helpful in building any product manager’s toolkit and it was a short and concise read. I enjoyed it and could see myself referring back to it in the future."
